Qatar: Political pressure will not deter support for Gaza peace talks

AhlulBayt News Agency: Qatar has strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks regarding its mediation efforts in the Gaza war, rejecting what it described as "inflammatory rhetoric" and attempts to exert political pressure.

According to PressTV, in a statement, Netanyahu’s office challenged Doha to decide whether it stood with Israel or the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement, accusing Qatar of "playing both sides" and demanding a clear stance. Israel framed its position as a choice between supporting "civilization" or aligning with Hamas.

Responding to these claims, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari dismissed Netanyahu’s remarks as a "false narrative," criticizing Israel’s approach to negotiations. He asserted that such statements lack political and moral responsibility, further accusing Israel of using misleading rhetoric to justify its actions.

Ansari emphasized Qatar’s role as a mediator, stating that since the war’s outbreak, Doha has worked closely with its international partners to facilitate peace efforts, protect civilians, and secure the release of hostages. He condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, attributing the crisis to systematic policies of blockade, starvation, and the weaponization of humanitarian aid.

Reaffirming Qatar’s foreign policy stance, Ansari stressed that Doha’s commitment to impartial mediation does not contradict its principled support for human rights. He reiterated that Qatar will not be swayed by external pressures or distortion campaigns and will continue working alongside Washington and Cairo to push for an end to the war.
